Accessibility Statement

Accessibility Statement

Downtown Ludington belongs to everyone, and so does this website. Whether you’re browsing the shop and dining directories, checking the events calendar, buying a gift certificate, or looking up parking, we are committed to making our site accessible to people of all abilities, including people with disabilities.

Our Standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Levels A and AA. These guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), describe how to make web content usable for people who are blind or have low vision, are deaf or hard of hearing, or have mobility, cognitive, or learning disabilities.

To work toward that standard, we:

  • Write descriptive alternative text for photos and logos so people using screen readers know what each image shows.

  • Use clear headings and page structure so the site can be navigated by keyboard and assistive technology.

  • Provide a “Skip to Content” link at the top of every page.

  • Present event dates, times, and locations as text rather than only in images or flyers.

  • Choose text and background colors with readable contrast.

  • Review new pages, events, and blog posts for accessibility before publishing.

Known Limitations

Accessibility is ongoing work, and some parts of our site may not yet fully meet our goals. Some event flyers, posters, and older documents may not be fully accessible to screen readers. If you need event details or any document in another format, let us know and we’ll provide it.

Gift certificate purchases are processed through a third-party checkout system. We’ve chosen tools that support accessibility, but we can’t control every part of that experience. If anything gets in your way, contact us and we’ll help you complete your purchase another way.

Our directories link to independent downtown businesses, and we also link to our Facebook and Instagram pages. We aren’t responsible for the accessibility of those websites or businesses, but we’re happy to help you find the information you need.

Events and Public Meetings

If you need an accommodation to attend a downtown event or a public meeting, such as a sign language interpreter, materials in large print, or information about accessible parking and routes, please contact us at least [5] business days in advance so we can make arrangements.

Request Help or Report a Problem

If you have trouble using any part of our website, need information in an alternative format, or want to report an accessibility barrier, please let us know. Tell us which page or document you were using and what went wrong, and we’ll respond within [5] business days.
